The questions the shop gets asked most, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, email store@farmersjournal.ie or ring (01) 4199 525 — someone in Bluebell will pick up between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Delivery
How much is delivery?
Within the Republic of Ireland, delivery is free on orders over €12.50. Below that it's a flat €5. Northern Ireland is free with no minimum. Great Britain is a flat €7. A few items — the diary and the 75th anniversary book among them — ship free wherever they're going in Ireland, whatever the order total.
The exact charge is calculated at the checkout before you pay, so you'll never be surprised by it.
Where do you deliver to?
Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain. If you're ordering from further afield, email store@farmersjournal.ie before you order and we'll tell you what we can do.
How long will my order take?
Orders are picked and dispatched Monday to Friday. We aim to have your order out the door within 72 hours, though at busy times — the run-up to Christmas, the week of the Ploughing — it can take up to five working days before it's dispatched. An Post handles delivery from there. Allow up to ten days from ordering to be safe.
Will my whole order arrive together?
Not always. Clothing, books and diaries are held in different parts of the warehouse, so an order with a jacket and a diary in it may well arrive as two parcels on different days. Nothing has gone wrong if that happens.
Can I track it?
Yes. As soon as your order is dispatched we email you a tracking number. You can also see the status of any order under My Account.
Can I collect my order instead?
Not at the moment — our click-and-collect service is suspended. Everything goes out by post.
Sizing and fit
What size should I take?
Our size guide has the measurements for every garment we sell, along with the most reliable way to pick a size: measure something you already own and compare.
The softshells — do they come up big or small?
The softshell jacket and the sleeveless are cut to go over something. They have a warm backing and a three-layer membrane, and they're sized on the assumption you'll have a fleece or a jumper underneath. If you're between sizes and you'll be wearing it over a shirt only, take the smaller one. See the size guide for the full detail.
What if I order the wrong size?
Send it back unworn with the tags on and we'll refund it — see Returns below. If you'd rather swap it for a different size, say so on the returns docket and email us so we can hold the size you want.
Returns and refunds
How do I return something?
There's a returns docket in every parcel. Fill it in, put it in with the item and post it back to us. Returns without a completed docket are much slower to process, because we can't tell whose they are.
Items must come back in their original condition and packaging, with all labels still attached.
Who pays the postage on a return?
Returns are sent back at your own expense. We'd suggest a tracked service — the item is your responsibility until it reaches us.
How long does a refund take?
Allow 14 days from the parcel reaching us. We check the item over, then refund by the same method you paid with. You'll get an email when it's done.
Is there anything you can't take back?
Anything that's been worn, washed, or had its labels removed can't go back, because we can't resell it. Gift cards can't be returned once issued. Event tickets work differently from goods — see Events below. The full terms are on the Delivery & Returns page.
Orders and payment
Do I need an account to order?
No. You can check out as a guest. An account is worth having if you order regularly — it keeps your address and your order history in one place, and it's where tracking shows up.
What can I pay with?
All the major credit and debit cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. Card payments are processed by Shopify Payments — the card details go straight to them and never reach us.
Prices — do they include VAT?
Yes. Every price on the site is the price you pay, VAT included. Delivery is added at the checkout if it applies.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?
Get in touch as fast as you can on store@farmersjournal.ie with your order number. If it hasn't been picked yet we can usually change it. Once it's with An Post it has to come back as a return.
I've a gift card — how do I use it?
Enter the code in the gift card box at the checkout. Any unspent balance stays on the card for next time, and under Irish law a gift voucher is valid for at least five years from the day it's bought.
Events and tickets
How do I get my tickets?
Tickets are emailed, not posted. You'll get them at the address you gave at the checkout — check your spam folder if they haven't arrived within the hour.
Can I change the name on a ticket?
Usually, yes. Email store@farmersjournal.ie with your order number and the new details as early as you can and we'll sort it out.
I can't make it any more — what are my options?
The simplest thing is to send someone in your place; just email us the name so the list is right on the door. Terms vary from one event to the next, so if you'd rather have a refund, check the event's own product page or ask us.
About the shop
Who am I actually buying from?
The Agricultural Trust, a company limited by guarantee, company number 22941, registered at the Irish Farm Centre, Bluebell, Dublin 12. The Trust publishes the Irish Farmers Journal, The Irish Field and Irish Country Magazine. More on the About the Trust page.
Does buying here support the Journal?
It does. The Trust is not owned by shareholders — it's limited by guarantee, and the money goes back into the titles it publishes.
I'm a subscriber. Is that the same account?
No. Your Irish Farmers Journal subscription and your shop account are separate. Subscription queries go to the subscriptions team on (01) 4199 525.
